This Monday, March 2 was Read Across America Day, which traditionally coincides with a celebration of Dr. Seuss. As she has for the past fifteen years, Mrs. Spirokostas has has dedicated this week to honoring the works of Dr. Seuss.
Students have doing reading and writing activities centered around some of their favorite stories, planning to work in the Innovation Lab on a design challenge, and wearing Seuss-inspired wacky hats.
Mrs. Spirokostas's students even taught Mrs. Berry's class a Dr. Seuss-themed song, inspired by "There's a Wocket in my Pocket." (In the photo below that captures this shared teaching moment, Mrs. Spirokostas's class is sitting on the green ottomans, and Mrs. Berry's class are sitting on the floor in a circle.)
Mrs. Spirokostas says, "This week was dedicated to celebrating reading! The students enjoyed reading their favorite Dr. Seuss books, engaged in rhyming word challenges, and created their own Seuss-like characters, but what I think they enjoyed the most was Crazy Hat Day!"
Mrs. Spirokostas sports her own Seussian hat as the students share in the song inspired by "There's a Wocket in My Pocket."
