A Musical Message of Kindness

A Musical Message of Kindness

Kindness meets musical inspiration!

Students in Mrs. Arabia's class have been learning about kindness and inclusivity. When our music teacher Mrs. Veacock shared the song "Yay, People" from City Love with the students, they liked it so much that they convinced Mrs. Veacock that they should make a video as a surprise for Mrs. Arabia because the song fit so well with what Mrs. Arabia was teaching them in class.

The kids got into groups, they planned together, they wrote a "script," shot footage, and middle schooler Jacob Renz taught Mrs. Veacock how to use iMovie!

Mrs. Veacock says, "It took us about five class periods to make it happen, all the while keeping it a secret from Sue [Arabia]. We used parts of design thinking to plan and execute the video. We sang the song, along with the original recording and I recorded that in order to add it to the video. When we surprised Sue on Friday, she cried."
