Welcome, Ralph Wales!

We are delighted to welcome Ralph Wales as the Interim Head of School for the 2019-20 academic year. Mr. Wales joins us on campus just as Benchmark Camp begins, so he will have a wonderful introduction to the spirit of Benchmark.

Mr. Wales took time on his first day at school to chat with our Benchmark summer campers.

Mr. Wales has worked as an educator, administrator, and head of school since 1980. He has just concluded a year serving as Interim Head of School at St. George’s Episcopal School in New Orleans and he has served for 24 years as Head of School at the Gordon School in East Providence, Rhode Island. He earned a B.A. in American history from Harvard College and an M.Ed. from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Mr. Wales is a trustee for the Rhode Island Philharmonic and recently completed a three-year term as president of the Association of Independent Schools in New England.

Mr. Wales understands and is committed to Benchmark School’s mission of helping bright students who have yet to reach their academic potential become confident and strategic thinkers, learners, and problem solvers who meet with success in school and life. We are thrilled to have Mr. Wales at Benchmark, leading our unparalleled learning community. Please say hello when you see him on campus!
