Job Description

Benchmark School is seeking a local artist to join the Art Department to work with middle school students for approximately 3 months. Our goal is to expose our middle school students to a working artist who will share their skill and expertise to create art with the students. 

Responsibilities

  • Plan middle school appropriate lessons that will scaffold the artistic process for students to have individual or collaborative work that is complete at the end of the residency.
  • Collaborate with the current Art Teacher to support students' needs and abilities.
  • Teach students about your making process, artistic habits, and skills.
  • Create your own artwork or installation that can be displayed at the school.

Qualifications

  • Degree in fine arts.
  • Experience in teaching your current art making process.
  • Understanding of how to teach neurodivergent middle school students.

Accomodations

  • Studio space available.
  • Stipend available.
  • We will cover the cost of supplies for an agreed upon amount to be determined by the school and the artist before the project begins.
