Welcome to Benchmark School!
It is our pleasure to welcome you to Benchmark School and our purposeful mission to develop each child’s capacity to find successful pathways to academic achievement and social growth.
We are particularly effective in this work, a boast that extends to our beginnings in 1970. In that year, Irene Gaskins, the school’s founder, put into action her conviction that every child has both the potential and the right to excel in school. With her intelligent capacity to develop individualized instruction, Irene built an institution that now regularly transforms the trajectory of children’s lives.
Our campus pulses with a unique vitality—a thrum that emanates from the hearts and minds of children for whom, in many cases, school has gone from being an unconquerable burden to a place of daily, tangible joy. This “lightness of being” is underpinned by a highly trained, experienced faculty that is unmatched in its dedication to instilling unshakeable self-confidence and sustainable self-advocacy in our students.
We intentionally present Benchmark students with a wide array of opportunities to explore their strengths and passions. Even as we focus on the acquisition of essential competencies in reading, writing, mathematics and science, we recognize that a child’s intellect and talent may best flourish in the entrepreneurial culture of our Innovation Lab, in the self-expressive spaces of the stage or the art studio, or in the dynamic landscape of an athletic contest.
As you walk about our 23-acre campus, we believe you will see why our school is an internationally recognized leader in effective, research-based education for children who learn differently or have yet to unlock their full academic potential.
As a parent, you know your child like no one else. You are called to trust your instincts about the kind of school environment that will match their nature. We invite you to test those instincts with a visit to Benchmark.
